Jordan & Rebekah Lassiter

Jordan has completed degrees at Appalachian State University (B.S & B.A.) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.A.). Rebekah Lassiter completed her B.A. at Appalachian State University, including a teaching certificate. The Lassiters love their two sons.

Scott Hawkins

Scott completed degrees from Taylor University (B.A.), Wheaton Graduate School (M.A.), and Trinity Theological Seminary (D.Min.). He and Jenny have five married adult offspring!

Ginger Ehmann

Ginger has earned degrees from Westmont College (B.S. Biology) and UNC-Chapel Hill (Ph.D. Genetics and Molecular Biology) and is the mother of two kids in high school. She loves camping, hiking, and kayaking.

Ron & Betsy Manila

Ron earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering at Carnegie Mellon and a masters in environmental engineering at Duke. Betsy completed an undergraduate degree in English at UNC-Greensboro, and a master’s degree at Gordon Conwell. Together they worked in various community development projects in Central Asia for 25 years before returning to Durham. They have 4 children, 2 now working or studying at university and 2 at home with them who are also eager to meet international students.

Carolynn Frost

Carolynn received a BA in Intercultural Ministries at New Tribes Institute. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 29 years and has 6 sons (4 are grown). Favorite activities include cooking, singing, traveling, hiking, and playing games.

Jim Frost

Jim had an experience as a teenager that defined what he calls the purpose of his life.   Ask him and he’ll tell you about it.  He also loves being with internationals, having lived two years in the Philippines and traveled to over 40 countries.  He is familiar with academics having earned four graduate degrees and having taught at the college level for 37 years.  After retiring from full-time professor tasks, Jim and his wife Emily have served their family and international students.  They have 3 grown children, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren with whom they love to share life.  They visit art museums (Emily is an artist) and travel and entertain students in their home, and have enjoyed doing life together for over 50 years.

Judith Howard

Judith remembers what it felt like to be a student in another country having studied in both London and Greece. She completed her studies at Appalachian State University with a BA in Social Work. She is married to her college sweetheart, Martin, and has two beautiful adopted daughters who are now grown women. Judith and Martin enjoy traveling to other countries, eating at fun, new restaurants, hanging out with friends, and exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains. One of her greatest joys is serving the international students at NCSU.
